This assignment addresses the following General Education Literacy: GEL 4.1 – Describe the historical events that influence contemporary culture.
This assignment is designed to examine the significant contributions of American women to history and culture; then connect it to contemporary culture using your interview and own experiences.
This assignment involves writing a sdetailed paper. For this paper you will conduct an interview, choose a research topic based on that interview, and then apply/evaluate scholarly sources accordingly. In order to write the paper, you will need to retrieve print sources, a primary source, and scholarly articles on a topic related to American Women and their historical contributions from the library and other valid sources. This project must maintain a clear historical perspective throughout the paper, relating in compelling fashion the issues surrounding the chosen topic to the larger developments and concepts of the course.
- You will conduct an interview with an American Woman; asking questions concerning key themes from this course. Sample questions are available in Doc Sharing, as is the interview transcripts template. This portion of the Project is completed in two parts during Units 3 and 5. (assignmnet 3&5 attached)
- Search the library for sources that interest you and apply to your topic. The sources must be scholarly and on a topic related to American Women. Instructions for accessing the library and completing a search are in Doc Sharing. You need 5 sources for this paper. The five sources should include: the interview, a print source, an article, a web source, and a primary source. You MUST use at least 1 source from course materials.

Part three of your project, the introduction and your sources will be submitted in Unit 8 (assignment attached). The fully composed final paper will be submitted in Unit 9. You may develop your own research questions to frame the context of this paper. The critical component here is the aspect of a well-analyzed and well-research interpretation of American Women. You need to make sure there is a historical component here.
Organization and Format of Paper

The introduction is a short paragraph. Provide background information to establish context related to American Women and the general background of the topic you selected. Then, clearly state the purpose of your paper with a well-defined thesis statement.
This section evaluates your topic and compares it to our course; American Women. You select your topic according to the interview you conducted in Part 1 and Part 2 (in Units three and five attached).This section of the paper should be no longer than one page. Identify and discuss some of the course materials you have utilized to support your research topic. Why did you use them? How did you use them? In what ways do they support your topic? Be sure to include a proper APA citation here!
